WILLIAMSON COUNTY COMMUNITY INPUT NEEDED FOR HEALTH ASSESSMENT FOCUS GROUPS

Our community is working together to improve health and wellness in Williamson County. Health care providers, faith-based organizations, public health, school districts, non-profit organizations, local governments, and community members are working together to address health issues where we live, learn, work and play.

The Community Heath Assessment (CHA) engages community members and local public health system partners to collect and analyze health-related data from many sources to collect the community’s feedback on what they believe are the most pressing health needs for Williamson County. The first phase was an online survey in May, the next phase is 90-minute virtual focus groups in Sept. which will be held via Zoom.

The first focus group will be held September 23. WCCHD is seeking low-income, English-speaking Williamson County families to share their thoughts on the ease or difficulty in obtaining health care in the community. For questions or to register, please contact Emily Johnson, LMSW at ejohnson@texashealthinstitute.org or 512-953-3663.

The second focus group will be held September 27. WCCHD is seeking low-income, Spanish-speaking families specifically from Taylor, TX to obtain their thoughts on the ease or difficulty in obtaining health care in their community. For questions or to register, please contact Rachelle Chiang at rchiang@texashealthinstitute.org or 512-348-6287.

Focus group participants will receive a $25 electronic gift card that can be used at 15 different locations, including Wal-Mart and Target. The feedback will be used to inform decision-making, prioritize health issues, and assist in the development and implementation of Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

Community involvement and engagement is critical throughout the entire CHA/CHIP process. Williamson County community-based organizations may request a presentation on CHA/CHIP progress by emailing hwc@wilco.org.
