Governor Abbott Issues Executive Order 36 Prohibiting Government Entities From Mandating Masks
The new executive order will prevent county, city, school district, public health authority, or any other government official from mandating the use of masks across Texas with low hospital rates. GA-36 goes into effect May 21, 2021.
However, state-supported living centers, county and municipal jails, government-owned hospitals, and government-operated hospitals may continue to use appropriate policies regarding the wearing of face coverings.
