What does WIC stand for?
WIC stands for Women, Infants, and Children and is a Supplemental Nutrition Program for these populations. For more information see the WIC page on this website.
What is WIC?
The WIC program at WCCHD provides nutrition education and vouchers for healthy foods for pregnant women, new mothers, infants and young children. For more information see the WIC page on this website.
What can WIC provide for my family?
Individual nutrition assessment and counseling by a Registered Dietitian (RD), degreed nutritionist or nurse
- Group nutrition education classes
- Breastfeeding education and support
- Vouchers for healthy supplemental foods
- Referral to services such as immunizations, healthcare, social services, Medicaid, and food stamps

How do I qualify for WIC?
Pregnant or postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5 are eligible. They must meet income guidelines, a State residency requirement, and be individually determined to be at "nutritional risk" by a health professional. Please call for an appointment to see if you qualify.
What is Farmers’ Market?
Farmers’ Markets are seasonal community events where local farmers bring fresh produce and other products for the public to purchase. WIC participants can redeem special Farmers’ Market vouchers for these fresh fruits and vegetables.
Where are the Farmer's Markets located in Williamson County and when are they open?
2008 Williamson County Farmers’ Markets:
- Georgetown (400 S. Austin Avenue) begins April 3 and continue every Thursday, 3-6:30 pm.
- Georgetown Sun City (Sun City Village Activity Center) begin April 1 and continue every Tuesday, 10 am to Noon.
- Round Rock (City Hall Parking Garage, 200 E. Baghdad Road) begins April 5 and continue every Saturday, 8 am – Noon.
- Taylor (corner of 5th St. and Main) begins May 5 and continue every Monday and Wednesday, 3:30 – 6:30 pm.
How do I find WIC vendors?
A list of active WIC vendors is available on the Department of State Health Service's WIC webpage, located at http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/wichd/vo/vlist.shtm.
What days/times do you offer immunizations?
Immunization days and time vary for each clinic. See the Clinic Schedule to find the most convenient place and time for you.

Where do I apply for Medicaid and how do I qualify?
There are several ways to apply for Medicaid. The social workers at WCCHD can help you get the information you need about applying and qualifying for Medicaid. Call the Healthcare Helpline at (512) 248-3252 or 1-800-890-6296 to talk to a social worker about Medicaid.
