Adult Immunizations
The recommended adult immunization schedule is provided by the Texas Department of State Health Services Immunization Branch. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides recommendations and guidelines for adult immunizations.
Adult Immunizations WCCHD Provides
Please note that the adult immunization fee is $20.00. No adult eligible under the Adult Safety Net Program will be turned away if unable to pay. Immunization forms necessary for your visit to WCCHD may be downloaded from our Forms Library. WCCHD provides the following vaccines to adults meeting eligibility requirements;
- Hepatitis B - uninsured adults and adult clients of Refugee Health Programs are eligible regardless of their insurance status.
- MMR - uninsured adults only.
- Tdap and Td - uninsured adults only.
Please call a clinic near you to confirm eligibilityt and the hours vaccinations are available and the cost of vaccinations. Clinic locations and schedule of immunization hours are provided on the Locations & Hours.
Immunizations for Travel
WCCHD does not routinely provide vaccinations required for overseas travel. For the vaccines available at WCCHD (Hepatitis B, MMR, Tdap, Td), individuals must meet the eligibility requirements listed under the “Adult Immunizations” section. For persons not meeting the eligibility requirements or requiring additional vaccinations other resources include:
- Passport Health Clinic, a private clinic, has locations in Round Rock and Austin that provide immunizations for travel anywhere. Call Passport Health Clinic at (512) 459-0672.
- Austin Regional Clinic's Travel Clinic located at ARC Far West Medical Tower. Call 421-4865 for an appointment.
TB Skin Testing
Tuberculosis skin testing is provided at all clinic locations during immunization hours or by appointment. Tests are not typically administered on Thursdays since they must be read 48-72 hours after administration, which would fall on a weekend. If the clinic is scheduled to be open on Saturday we will accommodate persons who need testing on a Thursday.
Skin testing is offered for $20.00 to persons who are required to have testing for employment or school purposes, persons who are being screened for becoming foster parents and other like situations. This is not a fee that is waived due to an inability to pay.
Testing may be offered free of charge to persons who have had recent exposure to a person with confirmed, active tuberculosis and in other situations that place them at considerable risk for development of TB disease if infected.
Community Outreach and Education
In an effort to keep the community aware of WIC benefits, the WIC Program participates in local health fairs, and provides educational presentations. Please call the Texas Vaccine for Children Coordinator at (512) 943-3645 or the ImmTrac Specialist at (512) 943-3657 for more information.
