Meet W. S. "Chip" Riggins Jr., MD, MPH

Chip Riggins is the Williamson County and Cities Health District Executive Director and the Williamson County Health Authority . |
| Since September of 2009, Dr. Riggins has served Williamson County and Cities as the Local Health Authority and as the chief executive officer of their Health District. In collaboration with the Board of Health, staff, and key stakeholders, he plans, organizes, and directs the set of comprehensive public health services for Williamson County. |
| Dr. Riggins oversees a staff of 95 public health professionals and serves as the primary point of contact for the Board of Health, member governments, other governmental agencies, community organizations, media, and the general public. His local health authority experience stems from time as Medical Director for the Galveston County Health District from 1990 to1995 and as Regional Director for the 28 Counties in Public Health Region 8 San Antonio, from 1995 to 2005. |
| Dr. Riggins received his M.D. degree from the Louisiana State University at Shreveportand his Masters in Public Health from Tulane School of Public Health in New Orleans. He is Board certified in Family Practice, Public Health/General Preventive Medicine, and Aerospace Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Riggins is a Colonel in the Texas Air National Guard and prior to his current position, Dr. Riggins was the Air Surgeon and Director of Medical Services at the National Guard Bureau,Washington, D.C. |
| He currently serves as the Chief Surgeon, Joint Force Headquarters, Texas Military Forces at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas. |
