Williamson County Medical Reserve Corps (WilcoMRC)
Volunteer with the Williamson County Medical Reserve Corps (Wilco MRC)
The Medical Reserve Corps, or MRC, is a national network of local groups of volunteers committed to improving the health, safety and resiliency of their communities. The Medical Reserve Corps is organized under the office of the United States Surgeon General. The MRC was unveiled during President Bush’s 2002 State of the Union Address, in which he asked all Americans to volunteer in support of their country. The primary role of local MRC units is to supplement the public health and medical portions of the existing community emergency response system.
The Williamson County Medical Reserve Corps (Wilco MRC) is a team of training medical and non-medical volunteers which is headquartered within the Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD). The mission of the Wilco MRC is to help protect and promote the health and safety of the people of Williamson County during times of public health emergencies. In order to be prepared for public health emergency response, the Wilco MRC is involved in community preparedness activities and training during periods of non-emergency. In times of non-emergency, Wilco MRC volunteers can help with other efforts geared toward promoting the importance of good health, nutrition, safety and personal preparedness.
