WCCHD recommends getting your seasonal
flu shot early to avoid long lines and wait times that are likely to occur after
novel H1N1 vaccine becomes widely available. Although seasonal flu vaccine does not provide protection against the
novel H1N1 influenza virus, it is important to be protected against both
seasonal influenza and the novel H1N1 influenza virus. Supplies of
seasonal flu vaccine are quickly running out. Call ahead before visiting
any provider for a seasonal flu vaccination. Check this website
frequently for updates on the availability of novel H1N1 vaccine at WCCHD and
other local providers.
Novel H1N1 Influenza Vaccine Update
WCCHD has received limited quantities of H1N1 vaccine.
This supply is available for those that do not have a private provider and are
either uninsured or underinsured and fit one of the following priority groups:
-
Pregnant women
-
Household contacts and caregivers for children younger
than six months of age
Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel
who have direct contact with patients or infectious material
-
Children aged
six months through 4 years
-
Children and adolescents age 5 through 18 years
who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications
from influenza disease.
The groups eligible to receive vaccine will
expand as WCCHD receives more vaccine shipments.
Where to Get a Flu Shot for Adults
Shots are available at local pharmacies, some grocery store chains, urgent care centers, and physicians’ offices. WCCHD will also have a limited number of adult
seasonal flu shots available for $20.00. We are unable to bill
Medicare or private insurance for the fee. We can accept cash or check but we
are not able to process debit or credit cards.

We recommend that you call the
clinic to confirm that there is vaccine available prior to coming.
Where to Get a Flu Shot for Children
Flu shots are available at all four WCCHD clinics for children aged 6 months to 18 years who are uninsured or underinsured (includes those children who are on Medicaid and CHIP, have insurance that does not pay for vaccines, or have a large deductible or co-pay that the family cannot meet).
The cost for seasonal flu vaccine is based on family income and is no more than $10.00 per child. No
child will be denied a flu shot if the parent is not able to pay the fee.

We recommend that you call the
clinic before seeking your child's flu
shot to ensure vaccine availability.
