Nutrition Recommendations

The following recommendations are for adults and children, except where noted.

  • Grains – consume 6 oz. each day
  • Vegetables – consume 2 ½ cups each day
  • Fruit – consume 2 cups each day (children consume 1 ½ cups)
  • Milk – consume 3 cups each day (children age 2-8 consume 2 cups)
  • Meat & Beans – consume 5 ½ oz. each day (children consume 5 oz.)
  • Fats, Sugars, and Salt – limit these

Health Education Programs

Williamson County & Cities Health District (WCCHD) offers nutrition programs for children and their families through Early Start for Healthy Living as well as for adults with diabetes through Living Well and Healthy.
